Email, however, is not a secure method of moving data. One method is to encase your materials in a password protected shell (a disk image). iCal Import Text Calendar

iCal is a very easy to use Calendar program but it does have limitation. One is that you can't directly import text files. Unfortunately, many sports teams publish their schedules, not as iCal calendars, but as a list on a web page or as a text file ready to be imported by other programs. As such, if you want them in you iCal you have to work for it a little. The good news is that it's pretty easy and there are free applications (such as Palm Desktop) you can use as the intermediary. Palm, however, doesn't import alarms and you may actually want a reminder, so this module includes a modifiable AppleScript you can run to set alarms so you don't miss a single game. You'll even learn a little something about AppleScripting iCal.

Module Making (Part 1)

This is the first in a series of free modules about module making. It covers beginning organization and setting up the module folder, then briefly discusses capture tools and techniques. While intended to be platform independent, it was made on a Mac and the specific capture tools mentioned are Mac programs. Still, this will be a helpful guide to get anyone started. As more Windows users and module makers submit feedback, we will revise this series to provide more Windows specific advice.

Module Making (Part 2)

Part 2 in this free series on making modules focuses on editing and voiceovers. We use Apple's iMovie which is a Mac only program, but many of the tips, such as how to remove extraneous movement, will be useful to authors regardless of platform or movie editing software.

Monolingual

Mac OS X includes languages support for over 60 languages. However, if you only need one or two, that's a lot of disk space being taken up by language files you'll never use. Monolingual sorts through your hard drive and removes the language files you tell it to.

Moving DVDs to your iPod

There's nothing better to do on a long flight than to relax with your iPod. Even better is to relax with a good movie. The problem is that the iTunes store doesn't sell the movies you have. Or, even worse, you'd have to buy them all over again. Fear not! There is a way to move the DVDs you own to the iPod you own that's free and easy.

Network printer sharing

This free module describes Printer sharing between OSX and windows on a local network. If you have a printer attached to your mac, and you are sharing your network connection with a computer running windows (this could be a standard PC or another Mac running windows via bootcamp), you will learn how to print to this printer from the other computer running windows.

Photoshop CS3 New Features

This module shows you how to use some of the new features found in Photoshop CS3. Once downloaded, choose Check for Updates from the Modules menu and this module will update with new content (nearly) every Tuesday. Because the module name remains the same, but the content changes, TeachMac Tuesday content shouldn't be used in custom modules. If you miss one or want to save these tips, download the Getting the Most (Out of Your Mac) series, a monthly (or so) collection of all the TeachMac Tuesday tips. "Getting the Most" modules are only 5 bucks each, but a subscription costs even less.
